FEAR
The Record
I like this album. The 'bad boys' of the "Decline of Western Civilization" l.p. have finally released some vinyl and it's GOOD. It's definitely the kind of album that grows on you. Besides the hardcore songs ("Let's Have a War", "I Don't Care About You" and "I Love Living in the City") there are a bunch of joke songs like "New York's Alright if you Like Saxophones" and "Beef Boloney". Funny stuff. "New York's Alright" has the best saxophone riff I've heard since "Oh Bondage Up Yours" by X-Ray Spex. There are only two things I don't like about the album. One is all the hype put on about these guys but that has more to do with the packaging than with the music itself. The other thing is that the production is much too clean -- not raw and crude like "Decline". Oh well, you can't have everything your own way. FEAR - The Record should be available in Ottawa within the next month or so and it's definitely worth buying.
