Human Interest

Lifespan

1985 to 1999

Members

I can't remember everything... Steve Gelling and I [Tabatha Holtz] hooked up in Ottawa in 1985, I was a back-up singer with "The New Capitals" when the band broke up. Steve and I sold everything we owned, jumped in his van and headed to Toronto. We lived in the van and sang on the streets till September 1985. Steve and I were the core members, many people came and went including Steve Keeping. We played with Lowest of the Low and Lava Hay if you remember them...

Type of music played

Your guess is as good as mine.

First gig

RPM opening for Handsome Ned.

Some other gigs

Convocation Hall, Lee's Palace, The Cameron, The Horseshoe Tavern, etc...

Last gig

The Cameron?

Recordings

One CD

Claim to fame

We were in an episode of "T and T" with Mr. T, they also used Steve's music in the episode. I'm sure he's still getting royalties for it.

Band high point

Playing with Kids in the Hall and working with Bellini at the Rivoli

Band low point

Too many drugs

Anything else?

Derivatives

Tabatha Holtz: I had been backup singer with The New Capitals. Before Human Interest, Steve Gellling had been with the Restless Virgins, Elastic Collision and Deep Six. After Human Interest, Steve started Your Buddhist Childhood and I don't know where he is now. I saw him a few years ago and he didn't look good. Wondering if he's still alive!
